Arts Week 2010
During the week of the 28th June, Manford held an Arts week. The theme of the week was 'The Natural World'.
The week was very exciting, with the children having lots of fun and creating some fantastic work. We were very fortunate as we had two visiting artists and two actresses visit to work with classes.
Year 2 worked with Sharon Drew and her son Alfie to create a large mural that showed a busy city scene and a countryside scene. The children created some fantastic work. They had the opportunity to draw, paint and print. This fantastic piece of work can be seen hanging near the Junior hall.
Years 4 and 5 also worked with a visiting artist, Georgia Wizby. Georgia creates sculptures out of willow. The children helped Georgia make two large butterflies that will be hanging outside the Infant hall. They had a great time weaving the willow to create the butterfly shape and then placing coloured tissue paper over it for a fantastic effect.
Years 2 and 3 had the opportunity to work with two actresses. All classes had a great time acting out a variety of scenes connected with the Natural World.
All children also had the opportunity to take part in a dance class led by Mrs Krish. Mrs Krish worked very hard for two days teaching the children a dance connected to the jungle. All children thoroughly enjoyed this dance and the music that accompanied it.
Thanks to all visitors and teachers that made Manford's Arts Week a fantastic one!
